Calendar changes for 2021 - COVID Impact

The following is copied directly from Dave Dearden Norasport Race Director's email of 23rd Feb 2021:

Like the rest of the country we have been waiting for the Governments updates on the easing of lockdown restrictions so we can get on with organising our season. After the announcement yesterday it appears that we have some clarity on the way forward.

Unfortunately the restrictions impact the start of our season and we will have to cancel the warm up meeting on March the 13th as sport is not permitted before the 19th March, it also looks as if our traditional Easter meeting at Three Sisters is under threat as overnight stops are prohibited until the 12th of April. Whilst we could run 2 one day events we think it is unlikely that competitors would travel for both days and again unlikely that people could manage to travel to the meeting in the morning. With this in mind we immediately contacted Three Sisters to look at alternative dates, hopefully on the first weekend that overnight stays are permitted which is 17th & 18th April. As soon as we know we will communicate this to everyone. For the presentation of last seasons trophies we feel that a social event is part and parcel of this so e are looking to incorporate it into one of our mid season meetings when we are allowed to gather in numbers.

For clarity on the situation this is an excerpt from todays ACU press release - So, for motorcycle sport; from 29th March formally organised outdoor sports – for adults and under 18s - can also restart and will not be subject to the gatherings limits but should be compliant with guidance issued by national governing bodies. Events will be restricted to one day events only. Self-contained accommodation will not be permitted until at least 12th April which is Step 2 of the Roadmap. Domestic overnight stays in hotels etc will not be permitted until at least 17th May. No spectators at sporting events to be allowed until after 17th May.

CALENDAR UPDATE

Whilst we have been in lockdown it has been difficult to confirm events as there has been a domino effect with different series trying to re-arrange events but we have had some success in securing a BRAND NEW VENUE! On the August Bank holiday weekend we will be the star attraction at a new festival of motorsport at the famous Olivers Mount circuit in Scarborough. The Saturday & Sunday will be a full Championship event for Supermoto Solos and the Bank holiday Monday there will be a hill climb event initially for cars but including a Superlite Class which we will run as the Masters Cup Trophy. Depending on numbers there may be a solo class for riders wanting to stay over Sunday evening. During the weekend there will be a Custom Car rally in the adjacent grounds so we are hoping for big spectator numbers.

To accommodate the Scarborough event we have moved Pembrey into October and also added Superlite joint meetings with BTRDA in June at Blyton and August at Pembrey.
