British Superlite Racing

A Superlite is a single-seater open wheeled Racing Car previously known as a Drakart.

Designed and hand built in the UK for the

two British Superlite Championship classes for the purpose of giving you competitive motorsport on a sensible budget.

They are of a lightweight tubular construction with a very high power to weight ratio and offer a sensation of speed and control that is second to none. The Championships are an ideal platform for experienced racers and young aspiring champions to compete on a level field and offer arguably the closest competitive motorsport available today.

With start grids of twenty plus Superlites there is always someone to have a close battle with.  The discipline is similar to Rally cross but on steroids with a varying combination of 90% tarmac, and 10% loose surfaces of shale/gravel. There are also circuits where we full an all tarmac layout simply down to it offering a better race day experience at that venue. Where required a few well-placed chicanes to create overtaking opportunities, with all competitors having the same performance package, your results will come down to race craft and staying tidy.

This results in good clean exciting racing on all parts of the track for the duration of the race, which are in the region of 8 to 12 laps, depending on the length of track on the day (typically one to one and a half kilometers).

All races score points, via transponder-timed results, for an annual British Championship in the classes. Trophies are awarded on the day for that round with an end of season presentation evening to award the annual Championship winners in each category.

There are several categories of Superlite, the S6, S9 and S10. The major difference being engine and transmission, the S6 class are Rotax two-stroke twins driven through a constantly variable transmission, and no matter what you throw at this machine, you are always in the correct gear, it is ideal for Short course Supermoto, Rallycross, Sprint and Speedway events. These machines are genuinely quick on all surfaces no matter what the conditions, being in excess of 110 bhp the acceleration is compatible with any modern Supercar, they seek to thrill - these are big boys toys at affordable prices.

The S9 class machines are powered by Honda CBR900 Fireblade engines and the S10 with a CBR1000 fuel injected Fireblade engines both with 6-speed sequential gearboxes. These machines need to seen, but be warned, the sound and power is quite addictive and it is not difficult to become hooked to these thoroughbred beasts. All the kids want one from the young talent to the grey haired teenagers who you see walking the paddock with the biggest grin imaginable.

With annual membership and a competition license at £60.00, the cost is refreshingly affordable, we are extremely fortunate and proud to run our events under NoraSport Supermoto Ltd (hereafter referred to as NoraSport) permits, this means no need for MSA licencing. The race entry fee of £140.00 gets you and the team into the venue with plenty of track time to satisfy your need for an adrenalin rush in a safe and controlled enviroment. If you want even more time in the seat we offer a set of testing/practice sessions on the Saturday of each meeting for only £80.00 extra. TWO days in any number of classes for the Superlite Race and Practice £210. Superlite Double Header events £250. There are no other hidden race costs other than looking after your Superlite.
